A look back at 2011 and looking foward

2011 was a wonderful year. Turning 40 years old was actually a lot of fun. My birthday party was a blast and the gift sending me to the San Diego Comic Con was simply amazing. It was everything geek and so much more! I met Frank Miller, Garth Ennis, GRR Martin, Grant Morrison, Jim Butcher, Neal Adams, Roy Thomas, and Jim Steranko. Thanks again to my wife who helped make it happen.

Picked up a couple of memorable sketches from some of my favourite 1980s artists, Bob McLeod (Fan Expo), Brent Anderson (SDCC) and Alan Davis (SDCC).

My writing credentials were acknowledged by the San Diego Comic Con and I was given professional status which was career highlight. I sold four short stories, landed two Back Issue magazine assignments, and crossed the finish line for this year’s NANOWRIMO. I hosted my first panel at the Fan Expo Comic Con with Chris Claremont, Fred Van Lente, and Dale Eaglesham.

I also wrote my regular column for The Black Glove magazine and joined the writing team for Biff Bam Pop late in the year.

And of course, this blog tripled its number of monthly page views to 32,000 hits, received just over 10,000 monthly visits, and has hit 110 followers! I was referenced on several prominent blogs, such as Jim Shooter’s blog, and several top websites, such as Comic Book Resources. Thank you for your support and comments. It's been a great year and I'm looking forward to unearthing more 1980s fun throughout 2012!

Happy New Year!
