1983-85 - Romita Jr. Sketches

Came across these early and lovely convention sketches by John Romita Jr. circa 1983-85.

Enjoy!

  1. Really set the tone for X-Men for years. I liked JRJR's run as well.

  2. oooooh I really like that X-men sketch!

I liked JRJRs X-men stuff alot more than I like his new stuff. The "sketchiness" kinda set a "tone" for the series (alot of Morlock stories, and one of my all-time faves, X-men/Avengers vs. Kulan Gath). Now his art just looks rushed.

I like the classic X-costumes in this sketch. I wonder if JRJr came up with the re-designed X-costumes @Uncanny 190's.? We all know about "punk" Storm (yuck), but the mid-80s Colossus, Rogue, and Shadowcat were pretty bad, too.
