Nostalgically revisiting the comics of the 1980s since 2008.
Not only am I not obsessive enough to ever win this game, but I have never been an X-Men or New Mutants fan so my answer is... no clue!
Scavenger Hunt! new mutants 56
Gaaah! Can't remember the exact issue, but it's New Mutants somewhere around issue number #15. I believe the panel pertains to the students going to the White Queen's Massachusetts Academy, and I believe that was around Secret Wars. Or I could be off base.... :)AL
Nope, the Professor had already been replaced by Magneto at that point. It's a tricky one, considering this panel didn't appear in an actual X-men comic, but in the Firestar limited series by Tom DeFalco. I'd say issue # 3?
It's definitely from Firestar and obviously from the one issue that was inked by Bob Wiacek, which I think was number 3.
Hey Jef, you are correct! It did happen in the spin-off Firestar limited series by Tom DeFalco and Mary Wilshire. This issue also has a great cover by Art Adams inked by Bill Sienkiewicz for the first and only time!
Jason, a suggestion: why don't you do a post with the right answer instead of putting it on the comments? It would be better for people like me, who follow your blog on RSS readers...And congrats for your awesome blog!
There was one other Art Adams/Billy the Sink team up: New Mutants #39... http://www.uncannyxmen.net/covers/newmutants/newmutants39.jpg
There is also an issue of New Mutants with an Adams/Sienkiewicz cover. It's the one with the White Queen holding up the New Mutants. In the Art Adams Modern Masters book he reveals that the White Queen's boobs are drawn by Mike Mignola.
Hey Otavio, I like to put the answer in the comments as that give the folks who read this blog entry later a fair chance to guess.
Hey Fiffe and Damien, thanks for keeping me honest!
