Hi Jason, I spotted that cover on the back of a Canadian indepenent from '83 called Northguard, the title character had a costume almost identical to Guardian of alpha flight, and humorous references were made about him. Matrix graphics published it.Love Mike Zeck but the fonts of all the different comic titles incorporated in the logo is magic. again, awesome find Jason
notice that the art is marked as SW #8, so maybe it's a rejected recycled for the cover of comics Interview, in the same line that the cover of SW II by Buscema. Where did you find the image?
Mystery solved! Kwan Chang owns the art which is posted in CAF, and Kwan says that it was to be used as splash of issue #8, but got rejected by Shooter: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=412403&GSub=44305

ReplyDeleteHi Ferran, unfortunately, I searched my archive and couldn't find the source.
ReplyDeleteI've had that picture for awhile, back when I didn't record the sources. :)
ReplyDeleteA pity, because a larger image would give more clues...
