Ey Esteban, Pérez's art for the 1983 crossover, along with a general description of the plot per page, were included in the deluxe edition of the JLA/Avengers crossover. I have to agree with you, it is a real tragedy the project never saw the light of day. On the other hand, we probably wouldn't have had the Busiek/Pérez crossover...
Starfox vs. hawkman---frickin' awesome. There's no way Eros' persuasion powers would work against a hard-ass like Hawkman, right? Still, a cool match-up.
Holy crap... GREAT FREAKING PAGES, man! How did I not know that these pages existed until now? I mean, I had seen the original pages before, I just had no idea that Tom Smith had taken the time to personally color them. These look fantastic.
Jim Shooter was right. The plot made little to no sense and there were a lot of plot-holes on Conway's part (how could the Avengers and JLA not know who the other was, for example, when Robin mentioned them both in the same sentence in the X-Men/Titans Crossover). That being said, it was nothing that couldn't be fixed, and its a shame that the two companies couldn't reconcile their differences, and that Jim Shooter went unheeded for the most part.
Nonetheless, Perez's artwork was fantastic. Still, his JLA pages were a little choppy. He hadn't done Crisis on Infinite Earths, yet, and hadn't yet come into his own as an artist, although he showed enormous promise. By 2003, he was so experienced and skilled in drawing the characters that the final product was nearly flawless.
Wow, these look fantastic! Are these included in some official publication? A real tragedy that book never got made...
