  2. She has been there for some of the best Marvel stories I have read.

And I see a Star Wars ship on her desk. How cool is that?

  3. Tie-fighter, a dolphin mug & a Sentinel pin-up! Awesome & cute! Ann as an editor just before she took up writing on Daredevil.

  4. Today I finally started reading Ann Nocenti's run on Daredevil. I only read about the first five, but I am not disappointed so far. Looking forward to the rest.

  6. @jason: Last week I finally finished Nocenti's run on Daredevil. I loved this series of stories. I liked how Nocenti uses the superhero genre to address some injustices in society. She's a very socially conscious and political writer. Addressing topics like social inequality, the role of women in modern society and how the female body is sexualised. Number 9 was a fun character to read (and a nice nod at one of the worst Beatle-songs ever made). I also found her examination of how superheroes are represented in the media of the fictional world of Marvel Comics, very interesting. I also liked how she made Matt Murdock drift through small town USA, just like Banner did in the Incredible Hulk television series. At the end of the run I kind of lost my appetite, though. When Daredevil finally gets back to NY he seems to have lost his mind. I thought that storyline was a bit of stretch to be honest. Not the Bulls Eye playing Daredevil part, but Murdock thinking he's his father and boxing... I thought it was a bit too much. But on the whole: great stories and great art!

  7. Hi Michael, thanks for following up. Glad you enjoyed it. It's a great run from the 1980s and often overlooked for the Miller DD run.

    1. @Jason: You're welcome. I know comments is one of the things that keep a blogger blogging :) I loved Miller's run as well, but yeah, it's a shame that Nocenti's run is not that well known.
