In 1986, the San Diego Comic Convention took place on July 31–August 3 at the Convention and Performing Arts Center and Hotel.
The convention that year boasted guests such as:

- Archie Goodwin
- George Perez
- Jim Shooter
- Stan Lee
- Kevin Eastman
- Marion Zimmer Bradley

Attendance was just over 6,000 people, compared to last year's 130,000!

Wow. Crazy that 25 years ago, you could fit the entire expo onto one sheet of paper with room to spare.

ReplyDeleteCrazy to think comic con was ever that small. I have only been able to go in the past 8 or so years and it looks nothing like that now. Man were the 80's better in every way?
ReplyDeleteI went a couple of times when it was there or the Civic Center in the '80s. It was actually about comic books unlike today's con which is all Hollywood and toys. It was much more fun and easier to navigate as well. Plus no worries about having to get a ticket 10 years in advance.
