Moving in
With geocities.com closing down, I thought about relocating my Marvel 1980s website, but then decided that it might be a better fit as a blog. Every week, I'll take a look at something from Marvel Comics in the 1980s.
I decided to back to your oldest posts and work my way up to the newest. I think I remember your old geocities site. You used the picture above, correct? Anyway, I like the blog better because of the frequent posts!
Thanks! yeah, I used the same pic. Trying to keep posting frequently. The content might not be as well thought out, but, it's a lot of fun with folks like you comment! Thanks again!
Hi there, Jason, just wanted to compliment you on this wonderful blog. I started reading Marvel Comics in the 80s myself and still do to this day, although nowadays with a professional eye because I am a journalist specialised in comics. Lovely to see the art work from the old days and I find plenty of new discoveries on your blog, so thank you for blogging. Cheers!
@Jason: Judging from the stuff you've posted so far, I think I will be. :) I was wondering, since you still read Marvel Comics, will you blog about other decades when the ink on the 80's has run dry or do you think you'll never run out of blogidea's about the 80s?
Hey Michael, good question. With just over 3 years under my belt, I'm still amazed by the wealth of material I've uncovered. I have been thinking about exploring the DC Comics of the 1980s as well as I loved a lot about that decade for the "Distinguished Competition", like the New Teen Titans, and Crisis on Infinite Earths.
@Jason: Sounds interesting, though I've been more of a Marvel fanboy than DC - though I think Batman is an interesting character. So is the 80s the comic book period you love the best because you started reading them in those days?
To me, Marvel feels a total different company since then. I loved the Spidey-stuff Roger Stern and Tom DeFalco wrote in the 80s and in the last decade liked the stories by J. Michael Straczynski. Nowadays, it feels like storylines are more than ever determined by the marketing guys of marvel instead of the creative team.
nice, nice blog: I found you on tumblr: thank you for making me discover the original Great Lakes Avengers: I read on the Comixology their funny debut on the west coast avengers vol. 2 # 4 but I cant find other digital copies of the following issues: any idea, like other sites? Keep up the good work (sorry for english) bye
