See, this is why Byrne was my absolute favorite artist of the 80's, and it still one of my favorites today.Maxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06604189594978198173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9202849355254208824.post-12212961095372120992011-09-17T17:15:28.642-04:002011-09-17T17:15:28.642-04:00Hey Steve, thanks for solving that mystery!Hey Steve, thanks for solving that mystery!Jason Shayerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12326506125878276176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9202849355254208824.post-65631457516717815902011-09-17T16:59:15.562-04:002011-09-17T16:59:15.562-04:00This piece is a commission from John Byrne in the ...This piece is a commission from John Byrne in the style of his FF poster detailing all the characters from his run on X-Men. He also did one with the Avengers.

FYI - the character behind Wolverine is John Byrne's Caliban,a character he created but not used. Or perhaps this character was from Byrne's later tenure (1990's era when he wrote X-Men?).

OR... it is a hidden joke.
Perhaps it is meant to be a fellow creator?
Or a fan?
Or... (and this is my favorite theory)... another Summers' brother (the old story goes that Byrne and Claremont used to joke about the 3rd brother who, upon reaching puberty and his powers kicking in... simply exploded).

Either way, look closely at the area below Mariko's sleeve:
there is a red "boomerang" delta-shaped red area amidst the black of the training uniform... looks like a visor.

Let the speculation commence!
lol~P~https://www.blogger.com/profile/09299078564477985626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9202849355254208824.post-42339864175586495372011-03-25T23:26:29.233-04:002011-03-25T23:26:29.233-04:00i hope it's iceman, i can't find him elsew...i hope it's iceman, i can't find him elsewhere!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9202849355254208824.post-4590416423753408592011-03-25T20:10:00.084-04:002011-03-25T20:10:00.084-04:00Hey Jef, good eyes!
