What on earth is Perez supposed to draw without a plot to work from? So Giordano has him work from the rejected plot. A clear attempt to push it through because he figured once there are so many pages of Perez art it will become fair accompli. He figured wrong and then tried to squirm his way out of it and deflect the blame.

Doc Savagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08783244633195233970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9202849355254208824.post-42667857089181728362011-10-02T00:22:48.979-04:002011-10-02T00:22:48.979-04:00And 1 more thing,The Hell with contracts, they mean...And 1 more thing,The Hell with contracts, they mean absolutely nothing, its just a piece of paper with writing on it. Because No one else should do the art since George Perez worked very hard practically for never nothing,& since Dick Giordano unfortunately has passed away 2 years ago,I'm sure DC & Marvel will be able to find a good replacement embellisher. Please,Don't let the Original Story go to waste. As a kid I didn't get into the comic community beyond the comic rack till around 1988. for me it was mostly Garage sales and flea markets for my comics. but after hearing about it I always wanted to see what they would have done. thankfully a few years back we did get the crossover with Perez doing the art to bootAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9202849355254208824.post-19529961225114133462011-06-09T13:43:11.049-04:002011-06-09T13:43:11.049-04:00fascinating, but heartbreaking! very sorry that p...fascinating, but heartbreaking! very sorry that perez artwork was never allowed to properly see the light of day.

also, i recall reading somewhere (i think in his blog, but i'm not 100% sure on that) about a lot of shooter's objections on this. obviously it was a bit self-serving (as all of these things are likely to be, that's not a shot at shooter in particular), but many of his objections made a lot of sense. he had a number of them not mentioned here, including one of the plot points being that superman was traveling through time at some point during the plot, is on galactus' space ship, sees that it's set to eat krypton, and sets it to eat another planet instead. oh gerry conway, you never let character get in the way of your plots!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9202849355254208824.post-17471287440579841022011-06-09T12:53:55.940-04:002011-06-09T12:53:55.940-04:00At least Shooter's list was a logical one (onc...At least Shooter's list was a logical one (once he finally sent it).

I have some issues with him and some of his decisions, but I think he does care about continuity and the characters.

There are a lot of things I like about Shooter's work.
